Yes, it surprised Auburnstar to see Shadowpool running back into the clearing so quickly without warning. She hadn't heard him coming, and his abrupt appearance would have made her jump if she wasn't used to odd things such as that. However, Auburnstar didn't jump, and she was frightened or alarmed by the racing cat, but she was a bit alarmed at the words that he spoke. Badger? Really? The she-cat hadn't smelt it, or gotten any reports of a badger on RavenClan territory lately, but he may have just lumbered in today. Auburnstar's eyes flashed, a bit with worry for the clans sake, but a bit more with determination to get it out.
The she-cat rose to her paws, her long legs bracing themselves to run after the badger that Shadowpool had spotted. But first, she issued instructions. "Alright, take us there. But, before we go charging after it, let's make sure it's actually a badger and not some shadow you saw in the dark," she said, her voice a bit mocking. "Now, not to fast, lead us." Her tail flicked, telling Shadowpool to move out and she waited for the tom to move before moving herself.

Shadowpool hissed lightly, he hated being ordered around. He spun around, trotting quietly and quickly through the dark forest, his pupils almost covering his entire iris, absorbing as much light as possible. He swerved bit, making a few turns, until he reached the clearing. He truly observed things now, the clearing was just a small circle really, a reprieve from the endless trees. There were a few brambles spread scarcely around the border, but not many. He flick his tail, steadied his breathing, and signaled quietly to Auburnstar that this was the place.

Auburnstar was right on Shadowpool's heels as he padded through the forest, lacing through the many tall pine threes that stood around him. The shadows englufed the two cats, hopefully three if Shadowstrike was behind them--Auburnstar hadn't checked behind herself. It wasn't long before the black tomcat in front of her halted and stared into the forest before him. His tail flicked forward, and Auburnstar took a step so she was at his side. Her glittering auburn gaze strained to see into the darkness, but it wasn't her eyes that gave the badger away. A strong gust of wind suddenly blew their way, and the scent of the beast hit her nostrils hard and strong--Shadowpool was right, there was a badger in their forest.
Auburnstar gave a soft grunt and she shook her head slowly, as if showing disapproval that the clan hadn't seen it yet. She turned behind her, waiting to see if Shadowstrike would pop out of the shadows, because he obviously wasn't next to them right now. She didn't really need him to chase of the creature, Shadowpool and her could handle it just fine on their own, but she wanted to wait for Shadowstrike so he could help out if he wanted, after all, three pairs of claws are better then two.

Shadowstrike slunk behind. His shape moving easily through the shadows as he fit with them nicely. As Auburnstar looked basck he came forward, as he had fallen a bit behind. Hiis ears fell back only slightly as if apologising a bit for being a little behind. He stepped up next to, but a little behind, Auburnstar and unsheathed his long talon-like claws digging them into the ground and waiting for the orders from Auburnstar.

Shadowpool waited silently, shifting his wait from one paw to another, waiting for her decision. He blessed the shadows now, covering him so only his liquid-fire eyes were visible. The scent of pine needles filled the forest, but he could easily make out the badger's stench. If he should've been the least bit triumphant about finding it, he wasn't. Shadowpool wasn't a glory hog, and he personally wished that it wasn't there at all. And after a year he doubted anything could change his rank in the trust situation. The badger might have been able to hear his breath, even with the excuse of a sense they had, he was guessing that the rest of the forest heard it right now. He awaited still his leader's decision. He most-likely already knew what it was, of course they were going to attack, but he had to wait for the signal, otherwise he'd be punished, Not the first time, he thought tartly. That was the one flaw with leaders, in Shadowpool's dark mind. Even the slightest of actions could be taken as disrespect. Shadowpool was growing impatient now, it seemed as though an entire moon had passed, even though he knew that barely any time had gone.

"Well," Auburnstar began, adrenaline already pulsing through her veins, running up her legs, making her head reel with excitement at the thought of the chase. "Let's take this guy out." Her voice was quiet, but within it was the unmissible sound of the thrill that she felt so greatly.
With a flick of Auburnstar's tail, she was off. A battle screech eminated from her mouth, shouting into the night air. She sprinted forward at the creature, her claws digging into the earth and propelling her forward faster and fasted. She was almost ontop of the creature, and she had given it almost no time to react. She could smell its horrible reeking stench that hung in the air. Auburnstar's eyes twinkled brightly, this would be fun.
[ooc;; why don't you RP the badger Darky?]

Shadowstrike heard Auburnstar and saw her tail. He added a battle cry to her own and leapt at the badger. He headed for the badger's face. Aiming to leap on the back of it's head and claw at it's eyes. His long claws extended he scratched, hissing and spitting all the while. He tried to do some damage on the back of the badger's head as well with his back claws. His eyes burned with passion. Passion to protect his clan, to protect his leader, and himself. But most of all his clan.

Ooc- Gah, how 'bout we all act it out??
The badger roared as the small cat flung onto it's back... but it was a good rage, a rage he liked. He flung around, trying desperately to get it. Finally it's large paw connected with flesh. That problem taken care of, he turned to the fire-colored cat racing at him. He stood his ground ready for her to come. The blood dripping down his neck didn't really bother him much, only fueled the rage. The rage he liked.
Shadowpool hung back for a mili-second, before leaping forward into the clearing. He was silent, not planning on leaping around, screaming like a terrified kit. He raced for the badger's back legs, plowing into them. He saw the badger's paw connect with Shadowstrike and winced. He would be careful. He crashed into the beast's legs, wondering what Auburnstar would be doing right this moment. He raked his claws across flesh and course fur, trying to succeed in doing all the damage possible.

The tortoiseshell she-cat launched herself directly at the cats face, right where Shadowstrike had been moments earlier. Her eyes twinkled with delight, and she had no worry of what might happen to her if those large, blunt teeth were to close down ontop of her, for she knew they wouldn't. She raked her ebony claws down the creatures face and she heard it yelp in pain, it's roar echoing into the sky above the canopy of needles that lay above them. Her glistening white teeth flashed in the moonlight, and then dug into the creatures neck. It roared, rearing around, trying to dislodge her. When he did dislodger her however, he didn't exactly get what he wanted. She flug off, rolled on the ground once and then sprang back to her paws, her blood even thicker with rage and thrill. Her breath was started to become short, but it didn't bother her, the beast would be gone in a matter of moments anyway if they kept this up.
Once again, Auburnstar lept and aimed, her claws outstretched for the badgers right flank. She would get lucky if she actually made contact, instead she just wanted him to twist her way and bowl her over with a paw so that she could give the two "Shadows" a chance to attack him while he wasn't looking. Either way, if she got batted away, or if she made contact, it was a win-win situation. After all, Auburnstar wasn't prepared to lose.

Shadowstrike took the opportunity while the badger twisted around, revealing his neck, to see Auburnstar to leap. He made contact with the badger's neck, his teeth sunk in ripping the flesh. His long claws helped this as well. He heard the badger shriek in pain and twist his head around, trying to reach the cat on his neck. He couldn't with his mouth, but a few good rakes wuth a paw and the small opponent was lying on the ground. Deep gashes in his side. The badger could see though that the cat was barely hanging onto life, he tossed Shadowstrike against a tree to finish the job. Shadowstrike was dead.

Shadowpool saw Shadowstrike fall, but everyone had fallen, it was basically the unavoidable. So Shadowpool kept fighting, ignoring his fallen comrade. He was getting tired though, he had been up for nearly two days straight, and the sun was starting to rise. He winced as it pricked the sky. Yea, definite headache. he thought grimly, slowing his fighting.
For doing that particular thing he received a bloody cut on his jaw. He continued fighting with renewed vigor, keeping an eye on Auburnstar, and wondering all along where Shadowstrike was. The dawn light was bleeding into the sky, he wanted this badger OUT.
ooc- Rain? Would you like to do the honors of driving the badger out??

Dark claws flashed and glinted in the sun that was slowly rising into the sky. The growl that had rumbled in the she-cats throat and had stayed there throughout the whole fight rose louder as she saw that the badger was starting to back up. It's claws and paws kept flailing, but it was slowly turning away. Pride glinted in Auburnstar's redish-brown eyes as it slowly stepped further and further back. She could see the fear and hurt in its own dark, pools. A victory eminated from the she-cats mouth as the creature finally turned, giving in and started lumbering away as fast as it could. Of course, the tortie she-cat wasn't finished with it just yet. She followed it at a meager pace, nipping at its back legs every now and then to keep it moving. Soon, the beast was gone, passing off RavenClan territory and into the fields where the loners slept.
The she-cat stood for awhile, able to see the sun fully now. It's brightness glinted on her fur as she stood out in the open on the border of the clans territory. She shined golden, a sight to be seen. Strong muscules and long legs, the she-cat looked like some kind of goddess. She stood as still as she could, letting the soft breeze ripple her long greasy fur. She let out one more battle cry of victory and turned, trotting back to the small clearing where they had fought the badger. She didn't expect to see what she saw there.
The clearing was stained with blood. Of course, she knew that would be there. It was everybodies blood, the badgers blood, Shadowpool's blood, Shadowstrike's blood and her blood as well, that dripped from the gashes on her flank from the blunt yet strong claws. The thing she didn't expect to see was the figure of Shadowstrike, still lying on the ground. The black tom hadn't risen to his paws yet, and the she-cat leader couldn't pick up the rise and fall of the toms chest. Large gashes lay on the toms side and a pool of blood surrounded him. He wasn't moving.
The multi-colored she-cat sped to his side, her auburn eyes looking for the slightest movement. There was none. As she sniffed his body, she not only smelt the scent of blood, but the destinct scent of death. It lingered in the clearing, the feeling as well. Shadowstrike was dead.
It took a moment for the thought to sink into the she-cats head. No... She stepped back, her eyes confused and darting back and forth, seizing the image of the body that layed mutilated on the ground before her. Finally she reacted with words instead of just with her facial expression. She was calm, and her words strong, but they were also soft. "Shadowpool," she said, flicking her tail to the dark tom, telling him to come over. "Let's take Shadowstrike back to Colourcloud... Maybe she can do something to help him." With a swift movement, Auburnstar picked up the scruff of the cat in her mouth and swung it over her shoulder blades. She knew that there would be nothing their medicine cat could do, but she had added it in anyway, as if there was some glimmer of hope that the warrior would still be alive, just knocked out.

Shadowpool, once again, did not cry out in victory, he was not one to do so. Yet another feature about him that led cats to think they were being betrayed. He winced again as he turned towards the sun, looking for Shadowstrike, who's battle cry he hadn't heard. Then his eyes focused on a sight he wished he hadn't seen. The body of Shadowstrike, with a she-cat who Shadowpool knew had to be devastated talking to him. He nodded numbly, flexing his cut jaw. The pain didn't bother him much, it was more of the fact that he had to keep shaking his, spattering the ground with scarlet, to keep the liquid from his eyes. He surveyed Auburnstar with a quick sweep of steely eyes. She didn't have any major wounds, just cuts. He padded over to where Auburnstar had partially picked Shadowstrike up. The metallic smell of blood occupied the air around Shadowstrike's corpse. He lifted Shadowstrike off the ground, the pool at his feet staining ebony paws a glossy red color. He wasn't surprised that he was probably the least hurt from the attack, but for a cat to die?? No, that wasn't normal! He padded through the forest, careful to keep unison with Auburnstar, making sure that Shadowstrike's body did not fall.
