A tiny tongue flew over brown tabby fur. It was a bit of a surprise when she discovered that the Queens actually knew what they were talking about. Unwittingly, Pinekit had accidently brushed the left side of her body against one of the thorns that grew on the Nursery's wall. It was just a simple accident, but she should have listened to the all the she-cat's words of wisdom.
Especially Hawkeyes's words of wisdom. Just a few days ago, Pinekit and her brother's foster mother passed away. It wasn't a surprise to anyone, even the kits that she played mother to. The medicine cat always warned her that she would someday die because of some illiness. Like some kits, Pinekit didn't have the attention span to listen and remember more. Quietly, she laid her undeveloped head on her small paws. She was curious where her brothers were. As long as Pantherkit wasn't bothering her, she didn't care too much.

OOC: Hope you don't mind me joining in...
Birchcall padded over, green eyes unreadable as usual. He, like everyone else in the Clan, knew what had happened to Pinekit's foster mother...a sad thing, maybe, but life went on. As did kits, apparently. What had happened was almost expected, so the loss didn't hit the Clan quite as hard as usual. Less time would be used for grieving than usual; thank StarClan for that. Such was Birchcall's nature. Compassionate on the outside, but on the inside, shrewd and withdrawn. The warrior blinked as he looked down at the kit, and then asked, "Did you cut yourself on a thorn?" It was important for kits to remain as healthy as possible, or the Clan wouldn't have new apprentice to train. "If the scratch is deep, you should go see the medicine cat for a poultice." Strange, how he could seem so uncaring at times and then change to an extremely loyal cat whose first concern was Stormclan's well-being.

.Couragekit; "She's fine, Birchcall!"
A large tabby kitten jumped down from a large tree stump not too far away and he bounded over to his little sister. He had noticed since Hawkeye died, each of the siblings had been very quiet and laid-back. The young tom-kit was starting to feel a bit bored. As she made his way over to his sister, he meowed loudly,"See any blood?" He shook his head and flicked his long tail.
He skidded to a stop next to his sister and licked her cheek. "It's only one more moon until we become apprentices!"he exclaimed. "And then we can leave camp all the time!" He smiled brightly, thinking of all the fun stuff he could do as an apprentice.

Birchcall bliked, a slight smile on his maw. Ah, to be young and carefree. He remembered his apprentice days. Good times, good times... " So long as there's no blood, then you should be all right." he said, nodding to them and wraapping his tail neatly around his paws. " It's good that your brother is concerned about you, actually. Being an only-kit isn't what it's cracked up to be." he mewed. Birchcall chuckled slightly when he saw the look on Couragekit's face. He had been happy about his apprenticeship too, but he was a little confused about how the tom could look so bright after what had just happened. " Are you looking forward to training?" he asked, green eyes focused on the small tom.

Couragekit gazed up at Birchcall with admiration. He was such a wise kind warrior. He was exactily what Couragekit wanted to be. Except, he wanted to be a Leader. He wanted to be named Couragestar one day but he knew that it was very unlikely that would happen in the future, but being a warrior would be a very fun thing. He would get to go on patrols and hunt and fight. But even being an apprentice, he would get to do that.
The tabby tom smiled brightly and set his tail around his paws like the older warrior. "I can't wait to begin training! I really want to learn how to fight!" he exclaimed, flexing his claws. He let out growl and bared his fangs. But soon he was bright and smiling again. "I fight with Pantherkit all the time!" he meowed and smiled even wider at the warrior. Maybe he could impress him.

Birchcall shook his head, amused with Couragekit's answer. He had been eager to start battle training, too. Most young toms were. It was rather cute to see a small kit practice his 'aggresive' stance, but he didn't tell him that. Birchcall's fluffy tail twitched when the little tom mentioned playfighting with his brother. "That's good practice for when you're older. But it's different when you're fighting an enemy...they won't go easy on you." It was better to teach that to kits when they were young. Birchcall himself had been surprised by the intensity of his first battle: no one held back, except to kill. Killing was one thing that rarely happened on purpose. Still, a badly wounded cat could still die. The older warrior looked down at the kit, wondering if he understood what he was talking about. Shaking his head, Birchcall changed the subject subtly. "So; do you playfight with your sister as well?" he asked, looking from kit to kit. It would have been surprising for him if Couragekit said yes...somehow, toms rarely fought with she-cats when they were this young. Except maybe Flickerpaw. She acted as though she were a tom herself.

Couragekit sat up straight, after showing Birchcall his aggressive stance. He rapped his long tabby striped tail around his small dainty paws and he gazed up at the warrior as he spoke. He flicked his ears back and shook his head. "Pantherkit doesn't go easy on anyone, not even Pinekit sometimes," he meowed, looking at Pinekit and then back at Birchcall. There was a long pause of no talking. During that pause Couragekit thought about Hawkeye had told him when he was fairly young. After he was finished playing with Pantherkit, she would tell him and his brother that we would be great warriors. That made Pantherkit want to fight harder, to be the best he could. Pantherkit never held back and most of the time, neither did Couragekit.
Suddenly, Birchcall spoke again and the tabby kits head shot up to look at the warrior. "Only if she wants to. We don't force her to play with us," he meowed glancing at his sister and smiling sweetly. He turned back to Birchcall, waiting for a reply.

Vivid green eyes focused on his prey, calculating the distances, the chances that said prey would move, and what to do next. Despite being a hyper little guy, he was actually quite clever. One hell of a strategist, really. But since he was still only a kit, such things could not be put to use except for play hunting.
Springing, the slender black kit charged at his brother; a wry grin warped his muzzle as he let out a fierce yowl. But as he spotted the warrior, Pantherkit came to a sudden stop--his face went blank with surprise and his small mouth opened in a silent squeak.
But then Couragekit spoke, he forgot his shock and grinned wickedly again. "'Cause she doesn't stand a chance against big ol' toms like us, right Pinekit?" he said jokingly to his sister, nose wrinkling in a wide smile. It wasn't that he hated his sister; he just enjoyed teasing her. No, in fact, he was quite protective of his sibling.
"Do you think you'll mentor one of us, Birchcall? I'll be the best warrior in the forest, just you wait! I can all ready beat Couragekit with only three paws!" he bragged, although the last statement was far from true. But he was only a kit. What could he say?

Out of the corner of his eye he saw his brother running toward him but he took no notice because it would be very rude to turn his back on the warrior that was speaking to him. He just looked forward, glancing at Pinekit every once and a while. When he saw Pantherkit stop, he turned his head to face him. The brother squeaked and Couragekit almost smirked.
Couragekit didn't hate his brother, he just chose not to play with a cat that thought he was the best. He also hated when the tom bragged about how he was better than the tabby kit. That wasn't true. Couragekit could beat him and did almost every single time.
Couragekit's energy died from his eyes. Did Pantherkit always have to ruin everything? He rolled his pale eyes and shook his head. Pantherkit always thought highly of himself. Couragekit hated that.
"Yeah right," he growled in a challenging voice.
