Eaglescale snarled angrily. So much for a nice relaxing patrol to teach my apprentice how to hunt! He thought with disgust. Ohh well............. He launched himself at the ferocious male and latched onto his belly and clawed like fury. The male roared and promptly tumbled over on top of Eaglescale. His breath was squashed out of his lungs and he gasped for breath. As the badger fel down, he fell on Eaglescale's aw wrenching it back the wrong way.
Eaglescale let out a howl of pain, horror, and uncaged agony as his paw was bent. Jets of fire shot up and down his leg and he yowled in pain again and again.

Bloodkiss's head snapped around, her eyes fixing on Eaglescale, his paw was obviously broken. She hissed quietly, probably swearing, although she couldn't hear her own voice. She leapt down, landing evenly. Her eyes opened wide as a large paw swept her off her feet. She jumped up, falling unexpectedly onto the dirt as the flame of pain ran up her hind leg. She hissed again, this time she was definitely swearing. The paw swipe had left her with three bloody gashes running down her leg. Not deep enough to penetrate muscle, but tearing through skin was bad enough. They bled more then she would have liked, alot more. Removing her face from the dirt, she limped quickly over to Eaglescale, having NO desire to be caught by those claws again.
She plopped herself down by the roots of the trees, knowing full-well she was to exposed. She examined the gashes once more. Yes they were deep, and bleeding heavily, but not so heavily that she was going to become anemic.... right now. They were fairly long, stretching about three inches full-length. She breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing that would do permanent damage. No, she was much more worried about Eaglescale. She turned to the tom, flashing a quick look over him, then rising to her haunches-gritting her teeth in pain all the while-and dashed back into battle.
She leapt towards the male badger once more-careful of the claws- and danced around him, looking for an open space in his defense. She leapt towards his paws, knocking them out from under the beast. Her gaze flicked to to the two apprentices, then back to the task at hand. She hissed. Her attack hadn't gone the way planned. She slammed against the tree, knocked senseless for a moment, then snapping back to reality. Serves me right, I guess, she thought grimly, landing at the roots. She sat up slowly, regaining her senses.
This could be harder than I thought...

Eaglescale snarled as pain ripped up his leg. Pain was blinking out his vision and he blinked it right back. No one touches Bloodkiss and doesn't get a bite outta this! He thought savagely. Yanking himself up, he tore at the female badger and clawed furiously at her jaw as she went after Bloodkiss. He ducked and rolled as she turned her attention back to him.
Gritting his teeth so hard he felt lone crack, he lunged forward, it down on a leg and yanked with all of his might. The already unbalanced badger fell and her waving paw flipped her up into the air. He came flying back down to her paws which batted him like a moss ball into a tree. He landed dead out unconscious. Stars blinked around his head.

Ravenstreak gasped. Pain and fear shot through his body, and he staggered weakly backwards as the female badger moved towards him. He saw Eaglescale go flying and let out a yowl of pure agony like he felt what Eaglescale was thinking. The female badger had regained full consesnious, and was now fighting. As she staggered towards Bloodkiss, Ravenstreak summoned all of his strength, his mind telling him to stay but his gut pushing him onward. He raised a forepaw, let out a weak battle cry, and swiped it over her haunches. A flame of pain tore through his body, making him feel dizzy. But they had to drive these badgers out.
He had to have hit a bone of some ort. Because his paw was now either badly injured or sprained. He thought grimly, his teeth clenched as far as they could go, We'll never beat these monsters. We have to send someone back for help! Ghostpaw! Ravenstreak's green eyes lit up as the name Ghostpaw popped into his head. He scanned the crowd, trying despreatly to find the gray apprenitce...

Bloodkiss walked towards where the badger was, ignoring her spinning head and picking the nearest target. One of the cubs ran past her, into the forest. She'd never be able to chase it with her leg. "Well dash it all then," she muttered.
She ignored the badgers, swerving last minute to grab Eaglescale by the scruff. She hauled him painfully around the tree, dumping him in the bushes where the badgers would, hopefully, not find him.
She trotted back to the battle, noting where Ravenstreak was. A smile of pure menace broke out on her face as she shrieked a battle cry, lunging at the Female badger, You know, it annoys me when someone hurts my crush, she thought evilly. She tore at the badgers leg, taking out chunks of fur. When the badger turned to snap at her, she easily side-stepped, swiping it across the nose.
"Ravenstreak? Would you care terribly to help me? I think we two can drive this monster out!" Bloodkiss called calmly, a touch of insane glee hinting her corded voice. She didn't notice the male badger coming up behind her, not even when it swept it's paw out. She did notice, however, when it hit her full-force, knocking her to the ground.
She was lucky. The only thing she got from that attack was a pawful of fur gone and the wind knocked out of her. "Stupid danged cats and their lazy apprentices," Bloodkiss muttered tensely to no one in particular. "Ghostpaw! Flickerpaw, come help for starclan's sake!" She called to the apprentices. She turned to the male badger, swiping at his nose as she had done with the female.

Eaglescale struggle against the black darkness that threatened to overwhelm him. Vaguely he could fell the pinch of Bloodkiss's teeth in his scruff and the buzzing in his ears. He heard Ravenstreak scream and Bloodkiss howl. He pushed himself, once again, onto his weary and bleeding paws. For two seconds he saw Bloodkiss fall with half of her fur pulled out. Fear for her and the apprentices, he lunged forward and attached his teeth into the male badger's throat. The male howled and clawed at him, ripping his fur and blood spewing everywhere. It groaned and fell, dead, on top of Eaglescale.

The whole time the battle was going on, and as disaster unfolded in front of him, Ghostpaw stood stalk still, fear pooling in his gray eyes. The beasts before him were magnificent and large. Their masked faces showed dark, beady black eyes, and long teeth for tearing through cats in one snap. They had long claws, and although they were blunt, Ghostpaw could see from the gashes on Bloodkiss' pelt that they were mighty powerful.
However, it wasn't only fear that was holding back the young tom from jumping into battle, it was guilt. He didn't want to go and harm another creature. If only the badgers would just leave and then no blood would be spilled at all. He didn't want to fight, he didn't want to get hurt, nor did he want to hurt the badger. The angel and the devil sat on his shoulder, and the angel was winning. He didn't want to battle, but yet he didn't want to see his clanmates getting torn apart. He wanted them to back away, couldn't they just leave the badgers alone?
But he couldn't just stand there. Eaglescale was now knocked out and Ravenstreak and Bloodkiss couldn't fight this alone. He had another idea though, he wouldn't have to fight. Adrenaline started to pump into his veins and he turned around, and began to run back in the direction of camp, his voice echoing behind him, "Help will come!"
