Careful. Kestrelflight cautioned herself as she rounded the bend around the water pool and found herself facing empty sick nests. That was a good thing and a bad thing. She had no patients and would be thoroughly bored, while no patients meant the clan was doing well and healthy! She turned around and checked her stores. In the cracks and crevices of the rock wall, a different herb was stored. Hmmm....... Burdock root, full. Poppy seeds, full. Cobwebs, oh, yes plenty. Marigold? Hmmm.... I'm missing Marigold." She would need that. It was a valuiable herb to have, espcially when new apprentices go out. They have a way of managing to come back with about a million scratches. Don't they know I'm busy! Kestrelflight shrugged. She was in no way busy, in fact she was bored out of her mind. She couldn't see or hear anyone outside and she didn't have any patients or any queens in the nursery! She was almost starting to wish someone would come in with some kind of wound for her to fix up. Kestrelflight sat down and wrapped her tail neatly around her paws as she thought about things. Moonclan was in dire need of more warriors and there weren't that many apprentices either. She needed to speak to the leader and talk about that. She didn't need an apprentice yet, and Moonclan needed all the warriors it could spare. She glanced up and saw what she hoped was a patrol coming in. She trotted out and picked up a shrew and strode back to her den. The tabby she-cat ate the shrew quickly, demolishing it in a few bites. She felt much better with that to fill her empty stomach, and sleep would come alot easier if she was full.

Aspenpaw dashed into camp on her white paws, delighted. She had hunted all day, and the warriors had been thoroughly impressed with her skills!! Fighting was another matter all together. Aspenpaw groaned, thinking of the bruises she received in Battle Training. It just wasn't her thing! She dashed to the fresh-kill pile, throwing her pieces of prey on it. She kept a single mouse though, and padded through the darkness of the cave to the Medicine Cat Den. She darted through the tunnel that led to it, she had always liked the Medicine Cat, Kestrelflight, and liked to collect herbs for her, though that path wasn't for her. She also enjoyed sharing tongues with her. And though she knew rightly well that she should go to bed, so she didn't get a welt on her ear in the morning for being late for training, but she wanted to visit. She burst into the Medicine Cat Den. "Hiya, Kestrelflight!" She mewed cheerily through a mouthful of mouse. She set the thing down, spitting out tufts of fur. "I brought you some fresh-kill!" This was always how she started the conversation: With her apprentice duties. It usually led to a real conversation though.

Kestrelflight jumped up and smacked her head on the top of the den. Shaking her head slowly she moved forward to greet Aspenpaw with a lick on the head. With the new company, she started to cheer up. Having a bouncy apprentice talking to you almost always boosts you up!
"Hello, Aspenpaw! You look excited. Oh, and thank-you much!" She leaned forward and picked up the mouse. Even though she was pretty full with shrew, no one said another mouse wouldn't hurt and she liked Aspenpaw alot so, why not. She sat down by Aspenpaw and began to groom her neck, her maternal instincts kicking in. She made herself sit down beside Aspenpaw and she asked,
"How'd training go?" From the bright look on Aspenpaw's face, it must have gone well, but Kestrelflight liked to listen to what they learned. It all seemed so different. She began on the mouse, enjoying the final juicy bits. With a smile, she washed her paws and asked Aspenpaw, yet another question,
"Got a hurt?" She looked the apprentice over.
"No stomachache, I presume?" She asked cheekily. The only way to get a real stomachache is to eat too much. She grinned mischeviously at the younger apprentice.

Tawny eyes looked up from the darkness. The shadowed form stirred, obscured. Oh, perfect. Cats intruding on her nap. She heartily enjoyed that! The girl sighed. Mirthpaw always said she was too cynical for her own good, but how could she help that? StarClan hated her, it seemed. How could she be anything but cynical?
Gloomypaw rose slowly, her dark tabby form appearing in the light as she let her eyes drift from her mentor to Aspenpaw. Waving her tail in greeting, she looked back at Kestrelflight and dipped her head in a more formal greeting. "Did you injure yourself training, Aspenpaw?" Gloomypaw asked quietly, but didn't look at the other apprentice as she spoke. Another thing she couldn't help: not making eye contact when it was avoidable. What could she say? It was almost like someone was holding her down as the forest burned around her whenever she did happen to look into some cat's eyes. Another defect. Another curse.
d**n her shyness.

Aspenpaw replied to Gloomypaw first, her blue eyes narrowing. Why was this cat always so sad? It actually frustrated Aspenpaw. "No, atleast nothing more than damaged pride and a few bruises." She turned her gaze to Gloomypaw, then back to Kestrelflight, her face lightening again. Kestrelflight had always been like the mother she had never known. She laughed heartily at Kestrelflight's response to her sudden appearance. "Training went well! For the hunting part atleast... All the arriors were impressed!" Here she puffed out her white chest, looking proud, then she deflated though, her eyes downcast, "Fighting went as usual." She mewed softly, flipping her ocean-colored gaze to Kestrelflight, "Why can't I get it? I'm always either to slow, to weak, or to obvious. " She lay down on the cold stone floor, her tabby head lowered to her paws. She sighed, answering Kestrelflight's questions, "Just bruises, you don't need to waste your time." She smiled reassuringly, but couldn't keep the disappointment out of her voice or her eyes. She ignored her last question, Aspenpaw wasn't in the mood for joking, anymore.

OOC; Mentor? Is Kestrelflight Gloomypaw's mentor? A little confused.... And no, Kestrelflight won't really go and ask to change Gloomypaw's name, she just doesn't like the name for a yougner cat.
Kestrelflight looked up from Aspenpaw to smile at Gloomypaw. She took a step forward to touch Gloomypaw quietly on the shoulder. Her eyes full of concern, she lowered her muzzle to look Gloomypaw in the eye.
"Is everything alright?" Gloomypaw worried her. To Kestrelflight, it was practically impossible to imagine not appreciating the world aroun her. Plus, she was going to talk to the leader about Gloomypaw's name. Who wanted to be called that? Some idiot of a she-cat named her kit that and stop to think what her kit would go through as an apprentice or warrior.
Aspenpaw let out a sigh and laid down. Kestrelflight felt a bit exasperated. Let's all have a pity party! She bent down and said to Aspenpaw.
"Well, any warrior wouldn't simply give up! They'd try anything to get better. You know what? I'll take you and Gloomypaw out for a training session! How'd you like that?" Kestrelflight smiled in spite of herself. Her head was spinning with ideas to help Aspenpaw and Gloomypaw out.
"Who is you mentor?" She asked of Aspenpaw, as she pulled Alder Bark out of its crevice and turned to Gloomypaw.
"This is Alder Bark. It is normally used for toothache. And this," She pulled out another herb, "Is Nettles. If you have a broken tooth, what should happen to your gums? Nettles treats it." She asked Gloomypaw. It was a little sudden, but any lesson would help prepare Gloomypaw.
