All righty. I still haven't written the second chapter to this, but tell me if you like it. Some of you will recognize it from True Destiny. =] Post good, bad, unnecessary comments!
Sealed The only sound which could be heard was the slow drip of rain off of the gutter in the alley. The moon, partly hidden by a blanket of dark clouds, was drifting out. The storm was passing by, and with it, the secret of that night.
The time was around one or two. Everyone was sleeping, alarm clocks waiting for the sun to rise. With a shudder of the wind, it was over. A tall woman stepped out into the alley. A white cat ran past her legs. The girl appeared to be rummaging through her pockets, searching. At last the sought-for item was discovered; a letter. She stared at the letter, turning it over and over in her hands. She wondered what was contained inside the yellowing envelope. She had an idea. Maybe a quick peek would do. A shrug of disappointment came over when a seal was discovered. Who would carry around a seal with them? Tucking the letter into its pocket, she quickly ducked into the shadows of the many garages lining the alley. Shoulders hunched and hood pulled over her head, the woman walked through driveways, around garbage cans, being careful as to remain unnoticed. The big boots didn't fit and made it hard to walk. As she squatted down, the left boot came off first, followed by the right. Soon after, the large coat and pants came off, as well as the blood-stained gloves. Underneath was a pair of much smaller shoes, easy to walk in, jeans and a sweater. She disposed of the clothing by pouring a liquid onto them and lighting a fire. In no time at all, the garments became, soon to be washed away by the rain.
Before leaving, she tore out a piece of paper, scribbled something, and tucked it away with the letter. Standing up and giving a loud sigh, the woman began to casually walk towards the end of the alley. She stopped and looked. To the right was an airport, an easy way out of town. To the left were endless rows of stoplights, streetlamps, restaurants, houses, cars, the heart of the city. She shuffled her feet, head shaking subtly. The rain started to sprinkle again slowly. She shuddered, silently wishing she hadn't burned her coat. But it really was the only way.
It was running away which seemed to be the best option. Tickets couldn't be too expensive…not to Mexico, anyhow. It was pretty easy to hide there for ten years, or however long she needed to hide. Before making the long walk towards landing fields, she crept up to a house and slipped the letter along with the note into a mailbox.
Walking towards the airport, hands in pockets, the woman stopped and looked around cautiously. It was raining harder, drops pounding on the houses and streets. The noise wasn't terribly loud, but it would disguise the noise of footsteps. And she couldn't help but feel like she was being followed. Walking slowly at first, she started running, heart pounding, hands flying free, pushing herself in pursuit for safety. But it was too late. A flash of lightning, followed by thunder, accompanied by the sound of a single shot ringing through the rain. The woman, gasping, collapsed to the ground. The sweatshirt was now soaking with blood, her hands clenching and unclenching uncontrollably. From the shadows, a man stepped out, a pistol held in his right hand. He pocketed it and began walking towards the figure on the ground.
Eyes wide, gasping for breath, the woman on the ground began coughing up blood. The man laughed cruelly at her wretched state. "I can't believe you thought you could outwit me. That lame excuse about going on a walk…and how you 'couldn't sleep.' I've always known what's been going on, Ellie. You should never have let him call my house. Now, if you would, give me the letter"
Ellie choked, the wound now slowly draining the last bit of life she had left. Her blond hair was stained with the blood that was now quickly soaking through her clothes. She laughed a light tinkling sound that could have been mistaken for bells. "You'll never find it. Not in a hundred years. I promised that I would never let that letter fall into the wrong hands. Whatever I have to do to keep it away from you, trust me. I will." Ellie looked into the sky, tears streaming down her face. The rain was comforting.
The man, enraged, stuck the gun to her right temple. "Oh, I will find it," he whispered, getting ready for another shot. "You can always count on me, Ellie." A second shot echoed into the night.
Ellie's eyes rolled into the back of her head. She was dead. The man smiled for a second, then began to search her for the letter. His hands never touched a single piece of paper. When he realized it wasn't there, his grin faded. He dropped the gun and stepped away. A single tear rolled down his cheek. "d**n it Ellie." The rain was getting harder and heavier. If he didn't leave now, someone would come and find him like this. He grabbed the gun and threw it into the sewer. Peeling off his gloves, he threw them onto the ground. His feet carried him to a house, small and red with white shutters, an oak door and a brown tile roof. He smiled, his hands shaking. "You think you're so smart. But I won't make this easy for you. I can't. You're going to regret this."

Chapter One.
A sheet of fog covered the area where the storm had been the night before. The sun was hidden behind the light gray clouds left from the rain. The morning seemed silent and perfect. Soon the silence was broken by the wailing of sirens. This wasn't the wake-up Callie had been expecting.
Her eyes slowly opened, squinting into the brightness of her room. Callie snuck a peek at her clock. 6:07. Callie groaned and dove under a sea of blankets and pillows, inhabited by colorful stuffed animals. She snuggled into the old. There was barely any time to rest though. Her father walked into the room moments later. He looked pale and breathless, but that could have been from waking up early. He walked over and grabbed her shoulder. "Callie, wake up. The police are at the front door."
Callie came out from the blankets. "Nngh??" She yawned and shooed her father away. "I…I'll be down in five minutes." When the door closed, she threw off her covers and sauntered over to her dresser. She opened the top drawer and pulled out a pink and blue tunic with a white lacey cami. Her pants were a pair of jean Bermuda shorts. She groggily walked to her make-up station. Callie pulled her mascara and eyeliner out. She brushed her hair until it was pretty straight, then pulled it into a ponytail. Callie poked her eye a few times before finally brushing on mascara. Her eyeliner went much smoother. She checked herself out in the mirror, from her athletic legs to the straight brown hair. She shrugged and walked towards the stairs. There were three cops at the door, one tall blonde female, one short bald man, and one tall muscular guy. She trudged to the door and yawned. "Well, you got me out of bed. What is it?"
The short guy rolled his eyes and began speaking. "About half an hour ago, a woman was found shot to death a block away from here. Her identity says that her name is Elizabeth Brown." Callie froze. "Our search shows that she was your mother, correct?" She nodded slowly, her blue eyes hardening. "Yes. But, you see, my mother left my father and I when I was fifteen. She hasn't exactly been a part of my life for a while now." Callie averted her eyes and chose to stare out the door. The scene wasn't exactly what she wanted to see. A tall, blond woman was laying on the pavement a ways away, one shot in her right temple, the other in her chest. The sweater she was wearing, originally green, was now stained with blood making it a disgusting brown color. Her jeans were ripped open, shoes flung to the sides, and a pair of black gloves a few yards away. Callie shuddered and turned away. She would not wish that on anyone, even her worst enemy. Shivering, she pulled the tunic more tightly around herself, wishing for something warmer. "I'll…be right back. I need to check the mail."
She pushed through the police officers and saw a large black van pull up. It had Crime Scene Investigators written on it, and Callie breathed a sigh of relief. She looked around at the neighbors who were wide-eyed with confusion. Some were muttering. Some seemed astounded. Others appeared bored. Callie shook her head and went back. Well, she should probably check the mail. She had said she would. Callie lifted the top and reached her hand in. To her surprise, there was actually something in the mailbox. She pulled it out and looked at what it was. A note on a scrap of paper, and a letter with a seal on it. Huh. Well, Callie decided to read the note. She turned over the crumpled piece of paper and immediately recognized her mother's handwriting. Stepping out of view, Callie began to read the note.
I don't have a lot of time, so I'll be brief. Guard this note with your life, Callie. It may have cost me mine, but this is what is important. I can't really say what's in the note. I'm not sure myself. Callie, don't ever give up this letter.
The letter ended there. Callie's heart thumped as she pulled out a large white envelope which was indeed enclosed with a seal. Should she tell? Her mind said yes, but her gut said no. She couldn't decide, so she just tucked the letter inside a panel in the house. It was loose, but you could easily fit things in there so that they would not fall out. As for the note, she put it in her pocket. She would come back for the letter later and put it in her room for safe-keeping. "Callie! Hurry up!"
"Coming!" As Callie walked through the door, she felt as if someone was staring at her. She turned around to see a tall cloaked man with dark hair and obscure features was looking her way. She waved at him, thinking that she might know him, but he simply turned away. "Callie!" Callie couldn't help but feel that she knew him from somewhere, but it could jut be early-morning duldrums. She sighed and called back to her dad. "Don't yell! I'm coming, okay?" Her feet felt like lead. Something big was happening, something she didn't understand. The breeze seemed more chilling, the day gloomier, the light more dim. Whatever was waiting, she would tackle it head first.

I edited the story a bit. I'm coming along with chapter two. It's a bit boring, mainly consisting with police questioning and Callie getting a surprise visit from someone. Read it and tell me what you think! =] The prologue is actually the same, but I cut out a LOT from the note. I thought it gave too much away.
