ClickDescription:
Nightstar is built as a somewhat thin cat might regularly be. He is sleek but not plump. He is somewhat thin, but definitely not hugely so; he is not skinny at all. He his not your huge cat, but is not your small cat either. Indeed, he is more on the average size. He is definitely muscular--however, he's more on the boney side of muscular than on the stocky one. He has regularly-sized ears and a regularly-sized tail, except for the fact that his right ear is shredded in half, which does cut down that ear's size.Personality:
Nightstar has unusually black fur. Not that black fur is exactly 'unusual'. The unusual part is that Nightstar is completely black, with the exception of his eyes. Black coats his whiskers and his paw pads are black as well--black as night, possibly darker than night, hence 'Nightstar'. His fur is short. Due to his twice-daily smoothing of his fur, it normally looks rather smooth and slick. He has plenty of deep scars, but they are all hidden by his jet-black fur. The only noticeable war badge is his torn ear, and that is not exactly a scar.
Nightstar's eyes are a deep yellow. Not golden as such, more yellow. Eyes in combination with his fur, an alternate name for him could've possibly been Waspstar. His eyes are a proud, piercing colour, and they state clearly that he is not one to mess with. They are not especially large or slit-like or narrow, but they are a tad round--like a normal cat's eyes, pretty much. They are icey and cold most of the time, especially when he feels icey and cold. When he is slightly amused, his eyes might glint a bit, but they do not usually.
Nightstar's face, like his build, is not really anything special. It is just like any other cat's. It isn't especially narrow or especially round. Another cat's impression on this black cat might be that he was defiant and cold, proud and sly. The fact is, they are normally right. Overall, Nightstar is a regular-sized all-black cat with hostile yellow eyes and a relatively normal-shaped face. A cat you would not want to meet in a dark alley, but could possibly afford to mess with once in a while; that's him.
Nightstar is half the time mostly calm, as an eerie cat to have present. He is dangerously calm these times, and it is so because it is hard to tell how he is feeling. The other half the time he is mostly energetic, but not in a bouncy way. He puts his energy into ferocity and wiliness, as well as pride and slyness. This could also be dangerous, because his energy is used to protect himself and his Clan, not to bounce around cheerily. He is a pessimistic character, mainly.History:
Though he can be optimistic at times, you often won't find him being so. In no means is he an optimist--he is a pessimistic who is optimistic on occasion. He doesn't deliberately try to find downsides of things just to be pessimistic--he does it for the sake of strategy. If it were in the warrior code, StarClan's will, and easier than it really is, he would most certainly take the chance to rule the forest--but he is not trying to. That is not his goal in life. Nightstar is not normally a murderer, but is hardly a saviour either--though he can be either one on rare occasions.
Nightstar does not have many goals in life. One of them could've been to become leader, but he achieved that already. Another could've been to help StormClan prosper--if so, he is still trying to achieve that one, every day. He excels in thinking, plotting, strategising, and tricking cats--his mind is probably the strongest part of him. He knows this, and is proud of it. He is a relatively good hunter and fighter, and swimming and running don't come too hard--but thinking is his best mark.
Now, if you want to know what ticks Nightstar off, you may as well want to know the names of all of the warrior cats that have ever existed, their parents, their pet peeves, and whether they believed in StarClan or not. To put it simply: it's quite a long list. A shorter version is the following: other Clans, dogs, kittypets, warrior-code-breakers, laziness, and mice. He can't stand mice--when he was a kit, the smallest of the litter, cats compared him to a mouse. Now he hates mice. Other Clans he has never liked--dogs killed his sister--kittypets are too soft--warrior-code-breakers break the warrior code--and laziness is annoying.
When Nightstar gets angry, how he acts depends on how angry he gets. If he's really angry, he'll get violent and yowl and show no pity or understanding. If he's just a little angry, he might either act dangerously calm and then strike with an angry tone, or he'll lash out at other cats from the start. If he's just a bit angry, he'll listen to what you have to say and try to understand--but he'll still punish you. He is that type of cat, after all--the type that'll listen and understand, but no matter what, thinks rules are rules, and no matter what, will get angry at you for doing something wrong.
Nightstar is a social cat. He is not your friendly, going-up-to-say-hi cat--but he is relatively social. He has friends, of course. Friends and followers. When he is in a bad mood, he likes to be left alone--but he is not a loner, nor an outsider, nor an anti-social cat. He is not a talkative, constantly chatting, rambling cat, but he does not stay quiet and thoughtful all the time. He talks, and when he does, he says exactly what he thinks. He doesn't hide what he thinks, he states it--he is not ashamed of his beliefs, as some cats are. He protests when he does not agree, but remains silent when he does.
Nightstar is definitely not looking for love. He wants to remain alone, and it is unlikely any she-cat would ever fall for him anyway. He is independent, and very rarely accepts help. When he is is desperate need, he will--but normally he will not admit it. Nightstar is proud, but he is not a fool. He has always (well, mostly) been a loyal and good StormClan cat, but he wants to have that written in stone, so he keeps on trying to prove to his Clan over and over that there is no need to doubt him, just in case he needs to. If he had kin in other Clans, he would meet them in battle as fiercely as if he were meeting his worst enemy in battle.
Nightstar is outgoing. He is usually the first to take action. He hates it when another cat does, as he is used to leading and being in charge, and only commands others to act first if he is busy at the time. He will make sure everyone is safe and all right and doing what he started doing before continuing to act, but he is still more of an act-before-they-can cat. He is not an act-then-question type, but he is not a question-then-act type either. He is more of an act-while-questioning type. Altogether, Nightstar is a very complicated cat.
Mudfoot and Heatherflower were two very close warriors of StormClan. They hunted together, patrolled together, and fought side by side. Mudfoot was a black-and-white tom--Heatherflower was a dark smokey she-cat. Soon, Heatherflower came out of the medicine cats' den and announced to Mudfoot that she was having kits. The two were elated, and even more so when the kits came. There were two, a dark smokey she-kit with a white underbelly, Darkkit, and an all-black tomkit, Nightkit; Darkkit for her dark fur, and Nightkit for his black-as-night colouring.Role Playing Example:
Nightkit and Darkkit were best friends throughout kithood. They had playfights, and they hunted leaves, and they played around so much together. They were rather disappointed when they became apprentices and received mentors. They were excited, sure--but they had two separate mentors, who disliked each other: Mudfoot, their father, was Nightpaw's mentor, and a different warrior who disliked Mudfoot was Darkpaw's mentor. Darkpaw was a great hunter and an excellent fighter, but was not as strategic and sly as Nightpaw. They both excelled in certain areas, Nightpaw's being, of course, thinking.
The rest of their apprenticeship was fairly uneventful. At last the leader declared them warriors. Nightpelt and Darkwater were their warrior names. A few moons after becoming a warrior, Nightpelt received an apprentice. Surprised, but pleased, he vowed to teach it everything he knew. He showed his new apprentice the territory, and tried to explain everything as best as he could. He trained it well, teaching it hunting skills, fighting skills, and, most of all, thinking skills. Six moons later, his apprentice became a warrior. Nightpelt was very, very proud, and that pride is still with him.
Later, on one fateful day, Nightpelt, Darkwater, and the deputy of StormClan went patrolling. They soon found themselves face-to-face with two dogs. The smaller of the two made the mistake of attacking them--they drove it off easily. The larger of the two, however, was much, much larger than the other dog. It struck Darkwater dead before Nightpelt and the deputy could react. Driven by fury and mad with rage, the two cats clawed and scratched until the dog howled and backed away. Before it left, though, it was able to snap the deputy's neck. Nightpelt sadly returned to camp with the two cats' bodies and a sad explanation.
Much to his surprise, Nightpelt was named as the new deputy. Proudly, he took the position, and served as the StormClan deputy for quite a few moons. The leader was old and weak, and was on the last of their lives. One morning in green-leaf, Nightpelt walked in the den to find the dead body of the old leader. Nightpelt then went to Mothermouth receive his nine lives. Nightstar walked out of Mothermouth while Nightpelt had gone in. Nightstar still hates dogs, and is currently the proud, sly leader of what he believes is the greatest Clan in the forest: StormClan, of course.
A black cat moved swiftly through the forest. Carelessy he stumbled once or twice, but it was evident that the scratches, though slowing him down and hurting him a bit, were not currently on his mind. His fur, as black as night, lifted slightly in the wind, then calmed down again as the eerie, chilly breeze came to a stop.[/i][/blockquote]Codeword: Rapids
Reaching the entrance to camp, he burst through with a wild leap, screeching, "StormClan! Under attack!" Nightstar tumbled onto the ground. Quickly getting up, he raced across camp to the center, where he was sure all cats could hear him. He tried to breathe and calm down. StormClan needed to know how bad this danger was; but panicking too much would help them lose this war.
"StormClan are under attack," he repeated. "A huge band of rogues is coming this way. We will fight to win, not to run away. Get the kits and pregnant queens and elders to safety; the nursing queens, apprentices, and warriors must be ready to fight." Tail lashing, Nightstar turned to his deputy. "Help the senior warriors get the kits and pregnant queens and elders to safety. After that, you may help me organise the warriors. When the rogue attack, guard the kits and pregnant queens and elders."
Without waiting for a response, Nightstar charged off to the medicine den. Ugh! All this giving orders. One more couldn't hurt, though. "Brambleberry!" the StormClan leader called. "Get your herbs ready! When you're done, you could assist my deputy in doing the jobs he's assigned." Then Nightstar sprinted off to go organise the warriors until his deputy and Brambleberry got to helping him, if they had time. "Oceanfeather, Bloodkiss, you'll guard camp. I know the rogues are coming; just alert us when they're here. That should be quite soon; so be attentive."
Nightstar paused, thoughtful. "Lynxwing, Sparrowpaw, you will...stand a few fox-lengths away from Oceanfeather and Bloodkiss. When they sound the alarm, they will help you try to block the rogues. You probably won't succeed; but it's best to delay them. Snowfall and Ghostpaw, you will sneak around that side of camp" --he pointed his tail to his right-- "and try to delay the rogues before they get to camp."
Once again he paused. "As for you, Torchheart, you and Flickerpaw shall go around the opposite side of camp to act as a backup for Snowfall and Ghostpaw. When the rogues break through Oceanfeather, Bloodkiss, Lynxwing, and Sparrowpaw, you eight shall assist Brambleberry, Scarclaw, Birchcall, Eaglescale, Nightshade, and me in fighting off the attackers." Stopping for breath, the last words were, "My deputy shall guard the kits and pregnant queens and elders. Understand?" He paused, not even checking their response, before continuing, "Get to your positions! The rogues are coming!"
