.click.Description:
Leafpaw is a lovely brown tabby with wide, bright amber eyes that shine in the light. Her chest and paws are white (there's a tinging of light brown in her chest as well, mixed with the white), and her ears are always pricked. She always looks as if she's listening to something, often looking very alert and watchful. Her whiskers are long and usually tell her more about the things around her than her keen sense of smell or acute hearing; it's like they can sense things, not just feel.Personality:
Leafpaw's average short pelt, which thickens to keep her warm in leaf-bare, is sleek and pretty, with a healthy sheen; sometimes it glistens in the sunlight like a fish's gleaming scales. Her body is small and lightweight, uncommon for a StormClan cat, giving her the ability to run quickly; and since she doesn't have as much weight to carry as those bigger than her, she has more energy, and so can run long distances without tiring in a short period of time. And her tail; it is not long, nor short, just the length of an average cat tail - although it can look fairly long when it's streaming out behind her as she's running.
Leafpaw is very sensitive, and is easily offended; she's a sweet, kind she-cat, so you should be careful of hurting her - you may never be able to forgive yourself for it, especially if you purposely saddened her, or were aware that what you were saying might hurt her feelings. But she's not a fragile flower like many think because of her quiet, reserved nature; she's brave and tough, and even though she has committed herself to healing her Clan and knows that the path she is treading is right for her, she makes a heck of a warrior in battle. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, though would never talk back to or disrespect her mentor or leader. And sometimes her quiet being flips around to a lively, energetic kit that's ready for anything. For a youngster, Leafpaw is quite wise and sensible, and for many cats who need advice she is the first one that comes to mind. However, not everything about her is an up-point; Leafpaw may have a head filled with knowledge, but she's still young, and she is often too trusting - even to strangers. She can be easily manipulated and fooled, and that is a weak spot that many ready to take advantage of a youngling quickly notice. But, surprisingly, she can bounce back from seemingly heart-scarring events with ease, though at times it is clear that she's just trying to ignore her feelings and forget about the past - what Leafpaw's problem is, is that she's trying to grow up too fast. She can't slow down; she can't stop herself.History:
Leafpaw was born to two loving parents who she wouldn't change a thing about - unfortunately, they were senior warriors when she was still a kit, so when she became the medicine cat apprentice they died from old age shortly into her training. At least she got to say good-bye to them...she's thankful for that. She was the only kit in the litter; it was leaf-bare when her mother kitted, and her brother, even smaller and more delicate as a new-born than Leafpaw, passed away quickly from the freezing, icy winds. Leafpaw hadn't really known her short-lived kin, whom had already been named Snowkit for his pure white pelt - ironic, isn't it? - so she was surprised when something occurred a moon later...When she was old enough to start playing with the other kits in the nursery, Leafpaw started having dreams about Snowkit; he would come to her in a leaf-bare blizzard that bit her pelt like a cat's fangs, and he would talk to her about life's lessons that were surprising to hear coming from a tiny kit - but he was a StarClanner now, so he was wise even if he looked just-born. He would tell her about things that sounded like elder stories, things that quite intrigued Leafpaw. These dreams she received from her deceased brother as a kit filled her mind with the knowledge she contains now.Role Playing Example:
One day, Leafkit decided to visit the medicine cat in her den. She was now allowed to come and go freely from the nursery, as long as she returned at the proper time for sleeping, and so she was intent on learning everything she could about the Clan. She had already learned much about the warriors from visiting their den, and had watched the apprentice's do chores; she had even observed the deputy assigning patrols, and the leader holding meetings, and she had already visited the elders many a time, even when she was very young. So now, all that was left was the medicine cat. The healing feline welcomed her into the medicine den, and Leafkit became quickly fascinated by the herbs and healing techniques right inside one den. She came to trust the medicine cat deeply, and would always come to talk to her about things on her mind; the medicine cat found it both amazing and a bit amusing that a kit had so many thoughts that usually only came to the heads of older cats. But she was purely shocked when Leafkit started telling her about her dreams from Snowkit. After a few days of hearing about these dreams from the kit's dead kin, the medicine cat suggested to Leafkit that she become her apprentice when she was old enough, seeing as she clearly had a knack for memorizing herbs and healing methods, and she already got dreams from StarClan. Leafkit was instantly thrilled at the idea, and when she was the right age, and 'kit' was replaced with 'paw', Leafpaw became the medicine cat apprentice. From the moment she earned the new rank, she committed herself to the job she now had, and was always looking for new tasks to do and ways to help the medicine cat, her new mentor. ((I know the StormClan medicine cat's name, but I try to refrain from using names of other people's characters in bios, except for the rolepay example.)) And she's still that way, to this very day. Even when she becomes the actual medicine cat, her loyalty to her Clan and her duty as the Clan healer probably couldn't get any stronger.
A lithe brown tabby body weaved among the trees, muzzle to the ground. Leafpaw's mentor, the StormClan medicine cat Brambleberry, had sent her out to search for burdock; rats had been discovered in the Clan's territory, and in case of bites the burdock plant's roots would be needed.Codeword: Rapids
Come out, come out, wherever you are, Leafpaw thought to herself, the tip of her tail twitching impatiently. She had been looking for burdock since right after dawn, and the sun was already quite high in the sky. It was a windy day, also, and so many different scents had been swiftly carried to her from every which way; it was difficult to keep track of a single scent, and so many a time today she had lost the trail of burdock she had scented.
Leafpaw walked on past a patch of thick thornbushes, her head low to the ground to keep her large eyes out of the wind that was blowing right at her. When it died down, she paused and parted her jaws to drink in the forest scents.
Burdock!
Without hesitation, not wanting to wait until another gust of air picked up, Leafpaw galloped through the undergrowth, swerving and leaping nimbly to avoid the many woodland obstacles. At last, she came to a small grassy clearing with a huge oak in the middle. The smell of catmint was strong, and she could see the intoxicating plant growing all around the oak's trunk, but some burdock was mixed in as well. I'll need to hold my breath until I get the burdock so I don't fall under the spell of the catmint and collapse! she thought sarcastically to herself, smirking. I don't want my paws to be rooted to the ground because of that herb's smell, however...Maybe I should hold my breath.
Inhaling deeply, Leafpaw walked into the clearing and came up to the oak tree. She poked around in the clusters of catmint, her sensitive whiskers twitching repeatedly. Finally, she found some burdock, and fastened her teeth on the plant's base. Then, with a massive tug, Leafpaw pulled the burdock free from the ground and fell backwards. She got up and shook herself, then quickly trotted out of the clearing with the burdock clamped in her jaws, happy to be able to let her breath out.
"Now time to head back to camp," she said aloud through her mouthful. Putting her head down low again as more wind picked up, she started off.
[If you didn't notice, I sort of lost my muse as I went on with the example. xD]
Other:
Her name is supposed to be similar to Leafpool's - ha! Similar? Her adult name is going to be Leafwater; Leafpool and Leafwater are practically the same thing! But Leafpool is my favorite Warriors character ever, and so I meant to give Leafpaw an adult name like Leafpool's.
